Louisiana State Trooper arrested in domestic violence case, officials say
LAFOURCHE PARISH (WVUE) - A Louisiana State Trooper was arrested Friday following a domestic violence investigation, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Brent Crochet, 28, of Gray, was booked at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on charges stemming from a domestic disturbance at his home. He faces felony counts of domestic abuse, aggravated assault, and simple criminal damage to property, along with a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse battery.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance involving Crochet and a woman with whom he was in a relationship. During the investigation, detectives determined that Crochet had struck the victim in the face, threatened her with a firearm, and damaged her cellphone.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant from the 17th Judicial District Court after establishing probable cause based on physical evidence and witness statements.
Crochet turned himself in Friday afternoon and was later released after posting $45,000 bail. The Louisiana State Police has not yet commented on the incident.
